Fort Benning, Georgia - On April 20, 2015, history was made when Kristen Marie Griest and Shaye Lynne Haver became the first women to graduate from the grueling U.S. Army Ranger School. This groundbreaking achievement marked a significant milestone in the integration of women into combat roles.

Now, almost a decade later, Griest and Haver have opened up about the aftermath of their historic graduation and their experiences joining the infantry. Griest, who was born on October 2, 1989, recalls the challenges she faced as one of the first female Rangers. "There were a lot of doubts and skepticism," she says. "People didn't believe that women could handle the physical and mental demands of the course."

Haver, who was born in 1990, echoes Griest's sentiments. "We had to prove ourselves every step of the way," she says. "We had to be stronger, faster, and more resilient than the men, just to be considered equal." Despite the obstacles they faced, Griest and Haver both persevered and went on to successful careers in the infantry. Griest, now a Captain, is currently serving as the Executive Officer of the 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Haver is a Sergeant First Class serving as a Platoon Leader in the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment.

Their groundbreaking achievement has not only opened doors for other women aspiring to serve in combat roles, but it has also helped to change perceptions about what women are capable of. Griest and Haver's story is an inspiration to all who believe that anything is possible with hard work and determination.
